Everyone has a loved one who has been affected by cancer. This year, Wyandot’s Relay for Life team has been raising money to donate to the American Cancer Society. Throughout the year, Wyandot’s Relay for Life team has done many fundraisers to reach their goal of $25,000.
One of the many fundraisers Relay for Life has done this year is WHAT. This was a big event in Wyandot’s school gym. There were inflatable slides, a photo booth, a cotton candy machine, and much more. Another fundraiser our Relay team did was selling lanyards during lunch and also selling baked goods every Friday morning. Can Cancer was another big hit. Classrooms were given a week to raise as much money as they could, and in the end the winning classroom raised over $1,000. These are only some of the many fundraisers our Relay for Life team did this year.
Cancer really hits home at Wyandot. This year, a sixth grade student was diagnosed with cancer. To help him out Wyandot did specific fundraisers just for him. One of these fundraisers includes “Live Strong” bracelet sales. On these bracelets it says, “Who Dat? Team Peter.” Peter’s favorite football team is the New Orleans Saints, who say “Who Dat” all the time. Also there was a head shaving event at Wyandot Middle School. This was when some of the staff and students shaved their heads in honor of Peter. This was another big hit.
Relay has raised a lot of money this school year and will conclude this year’s fundraising with a big event called Relay for Life. This event will take place at the Chippewa Valley High School 9th Grade Center, and everyone is welcome. At this event, there will be many tents set up with different activities, food, and much more. While some people fundraise, others are constantly walking around the track. At the end of this event, everyone is crossing their fingers that Wyandot’s Relay Team has reached their goal.
