In the magnificent islands of Panama City, Florida, tourism is the main industry for money. Panama City just opened a brand new airport which is expected to bring in a boatload of money and tourism. Regular service begins Sunday, but tourists are questioning the nearby oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. They have been getting calls about the oil spill and their vacation plans. Tourists are concerned about their supply of freshwater and if it would be safe to swim in the water if they were to go. This $318-Million airport is the first international airport in Panama since 1997 and was expected to bring in thousands of people and millions of dollars to the area. However with this massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, expect the Northwest Florida Beaches International airport to get a much less income at least until this disaster gets cleaned up.
This giant oil spill is effecting everybody in all different ways, whether they live on the coast of Florida and your health is in danger, or if you are trying to choose a vacation spot to stay for the summer. It is a huge catastrophe and it needs to be cleaned up right now. America has enough problems already; we do not need this too.
