Never Ending Oil Spill

The continuous oil spill has been gushing out millions of gallons of oil after the rig exploded more than a month ago. The oil is making its way through the Gulf of Mexico and has now reached Barataria Bay off Louisiana where pelicans roam. The oil is taking over their space. Pelicans, that should be brown and white, are now jet black. Sadly, they are unable to fly away from the disaster because all they can do is waddle.
Orange oil made its way, six inches off of shore of the bay. It has gotten into the pelican’s nest where their baby’s eggs lay. The white eggs are now covered in icky, black gunk. Pelicans are struggling to clean themselves. Pecking at their feathers and splashing in the water.
Wildlife officials tried to save the helpless little birds, but stopped because they were frightened. The officials are unsure whether or not they will try to help them again. Officials say that it is sometimes better to leave animals alone than to disturb their colony.
Each day, the spill worsens, but officials are doing their best to stop the spill and at the same time to save the wildlife along with it.
