Massive Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico

            As you already know, there has been a giant oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and it is far out of control! BP is being blamed by everyone for this spill because the oil is spewing out of one of their oil rigs. This is causing BP to lose money not only because it is their responsibility to clean up this mess, but many are angry at BP for breaking hundreds of safety laws leading to this spill. Thousands, maybe even millions of people are infuriated by this massive spill, and have decided to refuse any BP products. However there is one giant thing being overlooked by millions of U.S. citizens: where has the government been?  There was a recent poll taken by U.S. civilians and they are saying that the government’s response to this disaster is less than it was for Hurricane Katrina!

            I agree with those results 100 percent. The government has almost disappeared ever since this oil spill has begun taking place. President Barack Obama keeps saying that this spill should be cleaned up in a month maybe two. However I don’t see them doing anything to put an end to it, for instance hiring people to help clean up the oil. There are many ships in the ocean skimming, but very few are skimming boats. There are hundreds of potential skimming boats that could be helping with this job; however they do not have the permission from the government to help. The government is not doing as much as they could to help, and if they don’t change their ways this oil spill could last for around two years, almost wiping out all the fish in the sea.
