Flyers’ Heads are high after 2-0 Hole

By: Josh Young

6/2/10

The Philadelphia Flyers is a team that is known for grinding it out and finding a way to win, no matter what the circumstances are. This seventh seed team has defeated all odds in making it to the Stanley Cup Finals by beating the highly favored New Jersey Devils in the first round of the playoffs. Next they made history by coming back from a 3-0 deficit against the Boston Bruins, making the Flyers the third team in NHL history to ever come back from such a large hole. With the Bruins out of the way, they took on the Montreal Canadiens and won the series 4-1, where they seemed to be doing everything right.

The Flyers have been on an impressive run this season; however they are not looking like the team that always finds a way to get it done, as they are down 2-0 against the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals. There is much debate about which goalie should start for the Flyers, Brian Boucher or Michael Leighton. Both of these two goalies have had their ups and downs, and in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals, they both made appearances, in the Flyers’ 6-5 loss. In Game 2 however, Leighton turned things around, giving up just two goals in a 2-1 Blackhawks win. Game 3 is tonight, and we will all know a lot more after this game about where the Flyers stand.
